Clinical Placements at Spitalfields Therapy

Opportunities for trainee therapists

If you’re training to become a psychotherapist or counselling psychologist and want to support a diverse range of clients within the community, we’d love to hear from you.

Our placements give you the opportunity to build experience, grow your skills, and work within a supportive and collaborative environment.

What we offer

  • Client work – a regular caseload of three to four clients, face-to-face, on a weekly basis for one year, with the possibility to extend.

  • A supportive environment – you’ll be part of a team committed to your learning and development as a therapist.

  • Fortnightly group supervision – small groups of up to three trainees, led by experienced, qualified psychotherapists and counselling psychologists.

  • A comprehensive induction – ensuring you feel confident and prepared before meeting your first clients.

Who it’s for & what we ask

This placement is open to trainee therapists (masters or doctorate students) who have already completed more than 40 supervised client hours and are working towards qualification and accreditation with UKCP, BACP, NCPS, or BPS. We ask for a minimum one-year commitment, with regular attendance at Spitalfields Therapy’s online or in-person group supervision, alongside supervision through your course or privately.

All placement therapists must attend weekly personal therapy, commit to their own professional development, and uphold professional conduct with clients and staff. An enhanced DBS check is required (we can help arrange this if needed), and the first three months of placement will be considered a probation period.
